Don't forget a custom exhaust and intake setup, and a larger radiator. And you'll have to add an inline fuel pump and a return line. Probably want to add an intercooler.

Don't forget the premium gasoline!

Your 82' trans won't last very long at all behind a 1jz so you'll have to buy a custom bellhousing adapter and R150 trans (not even sure if that exists)

www.supracharged.com is the place to go. here's a thread on his 83 with a 1jz

so you had to custom fab a bell house?? ive got a L45 or L50. not sure which one ive got. you said in your link that a supra R type will fit for my tranny and the 1jz? just wanna know if there's anyway to get that motor in without too much custom work. i saw your fab work on your bell house and i don't exactly have the equipment and don't want to spend a wad of money to get a shop to do that for me. so if i can get away with bolt ups, cheers!!! u think my tranny would hold up to the motor or should i get a new one. and which one would work with my ijz and my stock t-case. or do i need a new t-case too?? i've heard that most of the stock stuff in my truck and fairly strong.

I'm unfamiliar with the L gearboxes, but can tell you that a later model G or W cannot hold the power in the long run.
They seem to have a tendency to blow up
R series is the way to go. A R150F from a 3VZE or R151 from a 22RE-T can handle 400-500 hp easy. My chain driven T case seem to hold up just fine, even with the 7M and 2JZ. It's a original '90 gearbox and T case and they have never had problems, on road or off road.

There is a bellhouse that is a bolt on, but that's a rare one. I believe it was from a soarer with 1JZ or 2JZ and manual gearbox. (only model with a short intake shaft)
The problem with the gearboxes is that the JZ series uses a pull type clutch instead of the push type on pickups and 4runners. Due to this the input shaft lenght is 35-40mm longer than a standerd pickup/runner with 22RE or 3VZE.
This means that you cannot use a bellhouse from a 1 or 2JZ with a R manualgearbox, and bolt on a R150F or R151 from behind a 3VZE or so. Your input shaft would be way too short. The clutch disc would float in midair, that short.

If you haven't got the sourches to do custom work yourself, you can get a new bellhouse. Last time I asked it would have cost me about 800$.
Maybe you are lucky and they are cheaper in the US.

Or get an engineering shop to make an extension shaft? Or even possibly make your own.

You can build a hybrid R154/151F, basically take the guts of a supra R154 trans and put them in the 151F case. There are a few people that have done 7mgte swaps that have done this. Then you can just use a jza70 Supra bellhousing that's available through Toyota for ~$350. Driftmotion.com also sells them.

Check out Supracharged.com for more info on jz swaps.
