My Trooper, the '89 2.6, has a front end rattle, and has had for quite awhile. I've looked and can't find anything loose, so I'm coming here once again for suggestions.

Rattle may not be the exact term I want. It's somewhere between a clink and a clank when I go over a bump. The bump can be a small as a Bot's Dot, the little reflective things they glue down the middle of the street in places. It sounds sort of like a small bolt bouncing inside a pretty solid housing. I'm fairly sure its coming from the front driver's side wheel area.

I've opened the front hubs to look at the infamous c-clip, and think its alright. See the picture.

Did I go far enough into the hub, or is there another possibility farther in?

I'd really like to fix this. Its worrisome having an unknown rattle. Anyone have suggestions or opinions?
