Hi All,

I've established that 235/75-15 is the largest tire size I can fit on a standard un-modified vehicle but will this size fit in the spare wheel space beneath the floor in the long body sportage?

Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers

Iain

Good stuff <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />.

I did some quick measurements and I think that the maximum size you could get in fully inflated would be a 215/75 but I need to confirm that.

How have you gone with the 235s? Any problems?

Cheers

i just put the 225 in the well and it fits but its not on a rim but the tyre fitted in there ok. on a rim with no air it will fit i reckon. the 235's r great they dont rub or anything i have got a small lift but i think when i go higher i will try 30's, where in oz r u located??

Down in Melbourne.

I'd like to have the tyre in there with air, I get a bit paranoid about it coming off the rim if too flat. I may play it safe with a 215 or similar.

I'd like to have a 235 spare but that would mean putting it in the back or putting on a spare wheel carrier on the boot lid and I'm unsure if it would take the weight.

couldn't you always just put on the spare tire carrier from the regular 4 doors? it holds my 31 no problem at all. squeaks a bit over bumps thats it.

It's a fair point but looking at the short body version it seems to bolt directly onto the body work which suggests there is a supporting strut behind there which I doubt is in my long body - worth a look though.

another option you could go with if you were not towing anything and you have a receiver would be to make a carrier that would go into the hitch receiver , almost like a bike rack. only problem there is it would make it inconvenient to get to the hatch!
