OK... I'm baffled... Here's the situation:
The driver's side door will not lock or unlock with the keyless entry remote control. All other doors/rear hatch work correctly. All doors work correctly with the lock/unlock switch on the door (co-located with the power window switches).
Also, and this is the most interesting part, if I open the door and push in the lamp/security switch to emulate the door being shut the door lock will work. So, I thought the problem might somehow be with the lock/latch assembly (on the side of the door) and I next pushed the latching mechanism closed with a screwdriver to simulate the door being shut. With the lamp/security switch again pushed in (and the door open) It still worked correctly. I tried pushing the latch around into different positions with the screwdriver and still it worked correctly with the door open (and the lamp/security switch pressed in).
I swapped out the lamp/security switch - no luck. I reseated the connectors on the power lock/latch assembly - no luck.
I can not figure out why the lock will not function with the door closed but works fine when I simulate all aspects of it being closed. What am I missing????

Body Damage is Cool

SOUNDS LIKE A BROKEN WIRE IN THE MAIN HARNESS WHERE IT GOES THRU THE DOOR IN TO THE LEFT FRT BODY PANEL, NOT AT ALL UNCOMMON,BUT USUALLY IT IS THE SPEAKER WIRES , WITH THE DOOR OPEN THE HARNESS IS BEING PUSHED FORWARD AND MAKES CONTACT AND WHEN THE DOOR IS PULLED AROUND TO CLOSE IT PULLS ON THE HARNESS AND WILL LOOSE CONTACT , THE BROKEN WIRE IS USUALLY RIGHT IN THE BEND OF THE HARNESS , JERRY

Jerry -
You're dead on. I was just out looking at it again and was jiggling the harness at the hinge and the lock stopped working with the door open. So, now the question is which wire feeds the power door lock? Since it fails lock and unlock I suspect that it's a ground wire that is broken? Anybody out there with a wiring diagram for the driver's side door lock actuator harness?
Thanks again Jerry!

Just to close this thread out for anyone that may have the same problem in the future...
I found that the Blue/White (w/ Silver dots) wire was open (broken) using an ohm meter to check all of the wires leading to the actuator through the door hinge. I strung a replacement wire through the rubber fitting using a clothes hanger (with a folded edge so it wouldn't cut any wires on its way through) to pull the new wire through. Spliced the new wire in on both ends (in the door and under the dash). Everything works great now!
