wasnt me. gotta friend with a 305 in his 90 wrangler. idle fine and no problems under 40mph. over 40 and it starts to sputter and die. thought maybe some wires could be off but no. not the timing either. not really to sure what it might be other than the fuel pump is to small or the 600 cfm carb is to big. so now its out there and any help would be great. thanks in advance.

Wytee You describe to the fullest a classic fuel FILTER problem!!! Change the filter and you should be OK!
The carb may also have a small filter in the intake...don't forget that one..
In these cases the filter is clogged just enough to allow 40mph of gasoline to pass thru it. When higher speed is needed that gasoline simply won't pass thru and so you get all the sputtering and missing.
