Getting the Wheeling Fever
So I make an appointment to drop the Jeep off on Monday afternoon so they can have it all day Tuesday. Tuesday at 4pm they haven't started it. Wednesday at 4pm they tell me "you know what, that fuel pump gasket was leaking, geez, who woulda thought, oh and by the way, the Chrysler parts warehouse went on strike today at 9am so we can't get the part".

No they don't give out rental's, and they don't seem to understand about customer service or customer satisfaction.

I guess only one question remains:

Are you ever buying another new vehicle from Chrysler Corp?

That isn't the question that came to mind. I was wondering if anyone else is having a good laugh about this guy's adventure with this one dealer's service personnel? Please excuse my less than politically correct response, but the moderator,52degree (south), is, and historically always has been, one of those that has a passionate dislike for Jeeps. There are over a dozen Jeep dealers in the Denver Area; from Castle Rock to Boulder ... and some within easy driving distance from the dealer cited above. I want to add that over the years I have used this dealer's service department for parts and to have recall work done, and I have always found these people very helpful. I believe I purchased three Jeeps from this dealer, but buying my vehicles there had more to do with their inventory and the vehicle price. Getting good service basically has to do with being polite to others and being somewhat knowledgeable and understanding of the vehicle and the service people, respectfully. Obviously, the Jeep owner that initiated this thread has a poor attitude, and has been less than respectful to the service department personnel as SuperDawg mentioned above. Judging Jeep or Chrysler by one dealership's personnel and perhaps a derisive experience is simply being imprudent and short-sighted. Ill-mannered,discourteous, and insolent fourwheelers are no more desireable on the trail than in the service bay. Sell the Jeep and/or pass it along to a more deserving individual more passionate about Jeeps and Jeep enthusiasts. BTW, thanks for taking the initial financial hit when you purchased the Jeep. I'm sure that someone is out there who has always wanted a Jeep, but has less ability to purchase one, is going to be very thankful. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Actually, as a purchaser of a '06 Wrangler X , I've experienced many frustrations with the dealership the tj was purchased from. President of the firm to the young lad washing the jeep for the 1st and might I add the last time. I find the state of the entire auto industry sad to say the least, but I've not taking to task the manufacture of the product. The dealership is independent of the company. With this said it is not to difficult for the average Joe, such as me, too see how the vendors and dealers set precedents for one another. Example a manufacture is irresponsible and has poor customer relations skills, so the dealer is only led to follow the precedent set forth by the manufacture.

In the final analysis, I only have my self to hold responsible. Not the product.

Fred,

I'm glad you found a dealership you like.

And for the record, while I have poked fun at some Jeep stuff, I actually do like them best of all the American made products out there. I'll admit, some of my comments in the past have been over the edge, and to those I've offended, I do truly and sincerely apologize. I have no relevant excuse for my words.

My dislike is for Chrysler Corporation and the way they choose to do business. I feel the same way about GM (for whom I was a technician until very recently) and Ford. Toyota isn't very far behind anymore.

The comments I made in this thread were based on my personal opinions of American automobile companies generically, as well as my personal experience in the automotive field dealing with service writers.

Again, I apologize for any offense I have cause either prior to this conversation or now. And as I said before, I sure do like those Rubicons and the new 4-door Wrangler.
