I just picked up an 88 raider. It's a 4 cyl auto, and I have some carb issues. The vacuum lines are a mess thanks to a previous owner, and I'm thinking about going with a weber. Just wondering if anyone has done the swap and if it is any better than just fixing the mikuni.

just get the weber 38/38...don't even bother with the 32/36. they recommend to have a cam, and free flowing exhaust with the 38/38 but my friend had it on a stock engine and it ran fine and he was getting 20MPG on the highway with it.

Is there any truth to the rumors that they stall out when you get on a good angle? I'm not that worried about fuel economy, I have a cavalier for that. I don't want the thing to stall every time I start teetering though, that's bad news.

I used to have a 32/36 on my old ram 50 and I had it stall out once on me...my buddy put a 38 on his raider last winter, and this year he didn't have it die once on him. they seem to be pretty good for angles...my old 32/36 didn't like climbing hills, but it was pretty old and needed a rebuild desperately.

well.. I just ordered my new Weber 34/34! $250.00 clean.
Excited to unload the mikuni on someone else and Start fresh with a new carb! Also since I dont have to deal with state regulation, it will be interesting to see how it acts when I drive from 3,500 ft elevation to 9,000 within an hour time frame (with out the high altitude compesater and emission hoses!

I was just looking on the TEP page and I could be wrong, but it looks like the price listed is just for the carb. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> How did you know which of the two was right for you application? I couldnt tell which one was for the auto or 5 spd. Do you have adapter plates and throttle linkage adaptor, etc, etc? Power of a 38 with the economy of a 32/36 sounds interesting. Worth looking into.
