just came back from hill climbing with my truck and the clutch just started slipping all of a sudden climbing a steep hill. so im just wondering with the mods on my truck maybe i need a stronger than stock clutch. ive got 6" rough country lift with 35x14.5's. will a stock clutch do me well on a stock motor??

If you still have the stock 4.10 gears pushing those 35" tires, you need to REGEAR. That little mill can't do all that work by itself, so simply getting a heavier clutch isn't the answer, tho' if you are going to stick with that kind of wheeling, it's not a bad idea.

im pretty new to trucks to tell u the truth. ive been tuning and building honda cars for years and know those things. but trucks i've just gotten into. so you saying i need to regear, do you mean regear the trans or the diffs? i would think in the trans.

The diffs. Science in action.

Tech articles on these sites is very helpful.

www.gearinstalls.com Zuk is a member here <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

www.ringpinion.com Also has a couple calulator tools here.

www.marlincrawler.com

Chock the fronts and get the rear in the air; truck in neutral.
Spin tire, count # of times the driveline turns to 1 revolution of the tire. That should give you an idea of the gearing.

yea that makes total sense now. basically if it has not been geared already, i'll have to get new diffs?? with bigger gears or is it possible to put a bigger mill in my existing diffs. seems like there's no diff plate to be removed.

Look closely at the pics on ZUK's site again.
