As far as an ignition bypass, I wouldn't do it. You don't want to idle it any longer than necessary. As far as starting on our cold morns, block heater is the cheapest/most effective route, $35 at CanTire if you can put it in yourself. Read the thread about block heaters elsewhere on this forum, I think I posted the part number in the cross-ref, stickied above.
