OK Great, I may look you up as i have several friends in airdrie and tend to go north a fair bit. As far as the bypass, we use them extensively at work and it would be used just for the few minutes before I head to work so I don't leave the keys in it...I see too many stolen cars because of owners "just warming up" their cars before they leave, keys in the ignition. I definately wouldn't be running the thing for hours like some guys with thier big fords or dodges. Also, why would a block heater be better than an oil pan heater. I have heard oil pan heaters are better so I am interested in your take. please don't mistake my curiosity for rudeness. I am really quite ignorant when it comes to diesels.
