I'm happy for you. I use O'Rielly for my main source and have never had a bad part from them.

6 months of playing around DIY seems like madness to me, why didn't you take it to a shop sooner.?

I'm curious, what do you (everyone) do for a living.
So someone goes to school for years, works in their field perfecting skills, makes a living, supports a family, gets paid a reasonable wage and all anyone else does it complain that "it cost too much" I think we should call the.......
WHAAMbulance.

be happy you didn't spend 6 more months trying to figure out what was wrong.

I own a trim carpentry biz. I will take my wife's car to the dealer for certain things, but never my Jeep.

I think just about everyone complains about dealerships SD. I just try and stay away from them cause I know it will cost mucho $$ when I have to take the wife's car to one.

Architect. All commercial and public bid; and yes, most of the clients beat us down on our fees....and it's such a small percentage of what the actual construction costs. You'd think they'd want to pay a bit more and ensure that we do a really thorough job (of course we do anyway). There are a few clients who have the $$ and want to do everything the right way though.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Threadjack!

I'm an IT guy for a small team that makes software for IBM. Our customers usually don't whine about price, but then again, when they're clients like the Air Force and big banks, dropping a few hundred K on a license for ONE piece of software is something they do regularly and without batting an eye. The funny thing is that it's usually the non-technical upper management that decides to buy stuff like this, not the guys in the trenches that actually know if it'll work or not... lol. So many companies I've worked for have made many 100k dollar mistakes because of that.

first it dose not matter what i do for a living the fact is i don't have alot of cash to spend. and i've work for dealers in the past and i know how most of them like to bend you over. the last time i took anything to a dealer the mistook my car witch was a 1990 pontiac firebird with the lt-1 for another car same car but blue with the v6. i was havin the pc tuned for the new motor should of been about 200$ i got the bill it was about 2800.00 and they did i bunch of ***** to my car. i had to sue just to get my car back it sucks. but i had bad times with dealers and don't like them i'd rather go to the little mom and pop shop but there's only one in this town and you'd be lucky to find hem not drunk at 8am.

It seems some missed your point, SuperDawg!

Not really on topic, but this thread reminded me of a joke you once told me ... if you need your Jeep fixed and haven't done anything to it yet, it's one price; if you have attempted to do the repair, it's a little bit more; and, if you attempted to do the repair yourself and want to stand in the service bay while the repair is done correctly, it'll cost you a whole lot more?

Obviously, there are some types of Jeep repairs almost anybody can do correctly, or learn to do correctly, without spending a great deal of pocket change or invest a lot of personal time. But, how many DIY Jeep repairs end-up as major projects at 4x4 shops with significant labor and parts costs to the Jeep owner? Sure, if I was a skilled carpenter, spent a major portion of my life learning the technical fineses of my trade, it makes sense that I should be able to troubleshoot and repair my own vehicle on my time!? What if everyone decided to do their own carpentry work? Would the end results look professional, meet building codes, and cost less?
