Not really on topic, but this thread reminded me of a joke you once told me ... if you need your Jeep fixed and haven't done anything to it yet, it's one price; if you have attempted to do the repair, it's a little bit more; and, if you attempted to do the repair yourself and want to stand in the service bay while the repair is done correctly, it'll cost you a whole lot more?

Obviously, there are some types of Jeep repairs almost anybody can do correctly, or learn to do correctly, without spending a great deal of pocket change or invest a lot of personal time. But, how many DIY Jeep repairs end-up as major projects at 4x4 shops with significant labor and parts costs to the Jeep owner? Sure, if I was a skilled carpenter, spent a major portion of my life learning the technical fineses of my trade, it makes sense that I should be able to troubleshoot and repair my own vehicle on my time!? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> What if everyone decided to do their own carpentry work? Would the end results look professional, meet building codes, and cost less? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
