My guess is a PO my have changed it out? The parts store might be able to match the old hose, or hit the salvage yard for the middle piece.

If you rev the engine, you may be able to see if the hose is collapsing.
Also worth checking the t-stat for proper opening, they have been known to be bad out of the box.

It seems unlikely that a brand new radiator could be bad....

I went to Napa, carquest, advance and discount and none of them have the right hose.
It overheated on me tonight after work, so I put the thermostate back in and a new fan clutch, and will see tomorrow. The old fan clutch you could not spin and it was a original ASIN part. So i fugure it was a 40 bucks well spent.

not sure what parts store you hit but i know auto zone has that hose, ive got one on 2 of my 22re's it actually is a 2 piece hose, theres a metal tube right under the alternator that leads to the 2nd hose to the timing cover. alot of the hoses are cut to fit anyways. ever think about the rad cap? id bet on the rad though

He knows the layout of the hoses... We have done several 22RE rebuilds together a few years back.

Yes, there is a rare single lower hose version... But his best bet may be to source the lower pipe out of the parts bin (if you still have spares sitting around) and replace it with the 2-hose set.

If a hose is collapsing and blocking flow it is more likely the bottom one - since that one sucks. Yes, I think there should be a spring inside that one. I'd replace that one. I'd spring for the genuine Toyota one.

I've always run a 13 psi cap on mine.
