will aluminum tape work as a temporary exhaust patch, or will the heat mess up the adhesive? thanks

yeah, they sell them at the store down the street, so i assume it's legal in maine...the exhaust fell off on the way home anyway, and i drove right by one of the worst cops around right after, but nobody bothered me

Dont ever assume that since they sell it, its legal to install or use, especially if its a chain store. Wally World is the worst for that in the hunting dept. They only sell what they can order and unless the dept. manager is knowledgable, theres no telling what kind of trouble you can get in. The example that sticks in my mind is scopes on a black powder weapon. Alot of states dont allow any modern sights. They may sell a 100 grain arrow head and the state might have a 125 grain minimum. Go to a locally owned store and ask or call a state certified inspection station if ya have em there.

IF you know someone w/ a little welder you can easily patch some pipe over it. If not, cut a soup can lengthwise (top & bottom already cut out) and use stls. steel pipe clamps (the screw tightening bands)to clamp it over the exhaust. That can actually hold up for a long time.

I did that with a section of coffee can and a couple of large hose clamps to fix an exhaust pipe back in high school. It worked great and lasted until I had time to replace the section of pipe.

Body Damage is Cool
What exactly are you trying to patch? Pipe, muffler, cat?
