Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hey guys, im new here, I just bought a 1980 Toyota pickup, lifted 7 inches on 36's. I took it wheeling yesterday in my forest and the engine began to act up. it now will idle for a bit, but it seems like there is not enough fuel reaching the engine. The pump sends fuel to the carb, so this leads me to belive its a carb issue. I checked it out, it looks like there is a few wires off the carb that are disconnected, and I would appreciate it if you have knowledge of the 22r if you could point these out to where they are supposed to go. Attached are pics

Thanks for your help,

Dave

Specifically the red lead here.

That red lead comes off of the choke coil and should be bunched together with the Outer Vent Control Valve(Which is covered on your carb with a plate) and the fuel-cut solenoid. They all are part of a green plug that doesn't look like it exists on your engine. The one showing is a different wire cluster I'm pretty sure...

So where do I need to connect this red lead to?

Where does / did the plug with the red wire in it go to?

I'm going to have to check when I get off work. I can't really run out there right now... I'll get back to you today.

Could this explain my engine not running / running poorly? If it is something to do with the choke?

Yes, the choke can really mess up the way the carb functions if it is acting up. Check out Scerb's FAQ:

I've read that a few times today. Seems to me that the choke problem could be my issue. I jsut need to know where it plugs in! Its possible a tree or a bush ripped it off when i was wheelin the other day.

Body Damage is Cool
The red choke wire, as well as the black and white idle cut solenoid wires all plug into the green connector you're holding in the 4th pic. See the carb faq for the diagram for that plug.

The small green connector goes straight up into the bottom of the intake.

The white rectangular connector I *think* goes to the connector in the 3rd to last pic, or if not that one then one near it.

If I were you I would find another carb'd yota in person and find where everything goes exactly.

Good luck,

Scerb

On my truck the wire that looks like it connects to the Red lead off of the Choke Coil is white or possibly a really light yellow... Are you lacking the entire cluster that leads to the green connecter?
