my FSM says it needs to be connected to the L terminal on the Alternator. What this means is that the choke thermostat (your red wire) needs to be connected so it only gets power while the engine is running. You should be fine if you just hook it up to switched power. Just remember, it will heat up if you put the key to the ACC position and it might not start right if you leave it that way for 10 mins. Not a big deal but something to keep in mind.
