You've seen these guys right? LC engineering Get on the phone with them. They know their stuff and should be able to point you in the right direction. Just keep in mind they are very proud of their parts and will charge ya top dollar if you go that route.

Thanks alot guys, now we're getting some good suggestions. right now it looks like, 12.5s overbore, polished up crank, of course arps,a double or triple spring, port matched header, adjustable cam gear, tighten up the quench, a heavy flywheel, msd, wideband 02, and a 270 or larger cam. How about rods? what kind of power do you think I'd be pushing with this? and also do you think it would handle possibly a 50 shot? I'm gonna be ordering my stuff and sending the block/crank out sometime within the month so i just wanna make sure I'm getting the right set up. I'm able to put a motor together but have never really got my recipes down, so all help is highly appreciated. And yes I do know about LC and I have also noticed their proud pricing. I'm not scared to spend it, I'm just budgeting myself so I can still have money to order my longfeilds. I'm hoping she'll go good, with a nice motor, 4.88s, welded back, locked front and cab completly gutted. Also once I start everything, I'll start doing photos as well.

On the heavy flywheel.. it will only be good for crawling/low speed/low RPM stuff... you're going to want a stock or lighter flywheel for more hp... remember the lighter the rotating mass the faster it will accelerate.

I was thinking that myself and looked on lc's tech articles and read the same that you just posted. A majority of my use is gonna be lining up to the mudhole and once i get in it tear hell through it. the other will be at the mudraces wear i need that top end screamer motor. Its just that I'm a die hard 4 cylinder fan and want to make the most out of it that i can at a reasonable price.

i forgot he was talking mud.... a longer duration with alot of lift is good for top end. 1500 at lc engineering wont go far. i think if your die hard 4 cyl toyota look into a supercharger but that would mean a totally different build.

If you're boring, why not go w/ a stroker crank too? Get soem real displacement from it.

Keep the stroke short and let that puppy rev! longer stroke = slower revving...

To get those big tires spinning and keep them that way through the goo is still gonna need some torque.
Since you don't have the HP to keep those big tires going once you hit a deep hole you have to makeup with torque to get them rolling again.
The bogs around here run a 4 and 6 cylinder class and it seems the high HP motors do worse than the stockers because they come off the line with some torque and then bog the tires when they get to the deep nasty part because they don't have any low down omph to get it going again.
I would sacrifice some topend HP and get some more torque with the heavier flywheel unless you are running a bracket racing track.
If you are trying to run 44s in a V8 class and win you are doomed and disregard everything I've said.

I definately understand whats being said with the torque, however even with the stock motor, the 4.88s where enough to get the the tires spinning, so with the top end motor, dont you think th torque would still be at least a little better than stock? i'm asking this cause I really havent seen to many 22r dyno charts to compare the differences

I looked at some of the pics on the mudinthepines site and the track looks fairly flat so I wouldn't worry about the heavy flywheel.
What class or classes do you plan on running in?
