I went to drive the truck this evening, hmm the battery is dead. That's odd, didn't leave the lights on. Dragged a couple of extension cords across the lawn, pulled out the battery charger, popped the hood, and ... #)%(*&_(!!!!!

Along with the battery, they took misc. tools and tiedowns and bungees in the cab, and the jack handle (but left the jack). And the radiator cap.

I'm practically speechless. Cursing just doesn't seem adequate. It's directly in front of a house on a nice street in a nice neighborhood with low crime.

A quick look at the junkyards says $300-$400, plus the cost of repainting. Toyota new looks like $300-$400.
Thanks for the Tucson tip, but shipping is around $100. (Actually, does anyone know what a tailgate weighs? I guessed 50lbs).

I didn't even know that tailgates could -- and should -- be locked. But anyone willing to break into the cab and pop the hood in such a neighborhood might just laugh at a small lock.
