OK , Here's an idea for you. Not sure if this is the case but on some of the 22re's , the two rubber lines on the fuel tank (one output, one return) are different. You know the ones that attach to the hard lines?

Anyway , on my 86' runner 22re one of the lines has a restrictor / filter/ or maybe a one way valve? in it . It's tiny and hardly noticeable and the only reason I found it was I was cleaning them out and blew air thru them to clean them . The problem is I can't remember which side (output / return ) it goes on or what its real purpose is . But IF it's in there Toyota had a reason and IF it's in the wrong place it may cause a problem . My point is , is that the side it's on I'm sure is important as could be the direction of orientation(flow)

I've never removed the ones off my carbed truck so I can't say for sure if they'd be on yours. I do remember when I was restoring the 86' , they the parts guys looked at me crosseyed when I told them one of the lines had some sort of valve in it. It didn't show up on there parts schematic so we ordered both hoses and sure enough one of them had the valve in it

I'd like to hear what others think of that particular hose and what it does????
