Need a Spot
i have an 88 v6 5 speed (r150)
its been shifting a little rough going into 4th and grinds just a bit when downshifting into any gear. coming home last night it didn't want to come out of third as i slowed down in front of my house, so i pulled it a little harder. it came out of gear but now is jammed up. no noise , no nothing.
my question is.... is there any way to re align whatever is out of line without pulling the tranny? is there a reputable rebuild kit for this tranny available? are the 3.4's tranny an r150?
sorry for the long post, thanks for any advise!!!!

Might be worth pulling the shifter off and see what the shifter bushings look like:

Might just be the springs on the clutch disc are shot. Mine did the same thing, but I had some noise from a broken spring.

Body Damage is Cool
All some good suggestions. Start with the easiest and work up from there.
I would start with the shifter bushing first. It's easy to get to and replace if it's bad.

thanks for all of the replies!!! let me give you guys some recent history. about a month ago the master cylinder leaked inside the firewall, so i replaced both the slave and master cylinder. the truck shifting has been sloppy in past couple months. also the shifter isnt actually in neutral either... its jammed just not in a gear. (kind of in like the third gear area) i can only wobble it around with the slack in the bushing, not across the gear selection like nuetral usualy does. also if it was a problem with the clutch disc or preasure plate i should be able to shift it when the truck is not running.(wich i cant) i know my dads ford np435 jammed in third and wouldn't move,(the shifter not the truck) i pulled the top loader cover, re-aligned all of the shifting forks and he has been driving for over 3 months since then.

Yea...when I had problems, it shifted fine when the truck was not running.
