The nutter bypass is a fix for the computer controlled carter bbd carb. The computer is a ford unit that is tied into the emissions system and basically opens and close what is called stepper motors on the carb. The nutter bypass eliminates the stepper motors. If you put an mc1200 carb you don,t need to do the bypass. Your post said when you put all the wires back the way they were your jeep started, go with that. Make sure you tape up the the hot wire that went to the stepper motor you don't want it shorting out and causing an underhood fire.
