howzit everyone. i read somewhere that the 1996 and newer tacos 4x4 rr axle has factory e-lockers. is this true? and has anyone considered putting that under a 1st gen truck? would it work? i'm asking cuz i have 83 4x4 and would like to try if doable. Thanks!!!

thanks for reply. i browsed that article a while back but thought it was too much work. so my thoughts are would you be able to swap out the differential assy as a whole? would spring perch line-up, i guess the output flange would have to be re-drilled or changed...???

The axle will bolt right in. The brake stuff (e-brake and brake lines) is on opposite sides, but that can be fixed.

And yes, on a 1st gen, you'd have to redrill the driveshaft flange.

The Tacoma axle is also about 5" wider but the perch width is the same.
