Believe how you want to, but I've always had some trouble with the idea that an omnipotent, all-knowing, and omnipresent creature needs and wants my admiration and to hear my entreaties and be worshiped by me.

I always liked Harlan Ellison's image of god as a madman, myself. Ellison is the guy who wrote the novela "A Boy and His Dog", on which was based the movie of the same name starring (and the first correct answer gets an "attaboy").

Jesus had one fine philosophy on how to treat others, but I also have a lot of trouble with the "son of God" stuff. I still think it was a great alibi for a young pregnant Mary...

At least here you can have your own opinion and express it ( unless it's global warming ) Then they burn you at the stake

And what would this hafta do with a certain person of a certain religion showing up on my front porch in a FOREIGN COUNTRY, and asking for me by my FULL BIRTH NAME?

Needless to say, I sicced the Office of Special Investigations on him, esp since we had just dropped some ordinance on Tripoli.

A few years ago, I lived in a duplex with a large front window and a lot of activity in the neighborhood. I don't know why so many people came to the doors in my neighborhood, but being polite didn't cut it. Being firm yet polite didn't work. Being downright rude didn't work either. Believe whatever floats your boat so long as you keep it to yourself unless I inquire about it.

So, I let the creativity flow and hung a sign in the window-a big sign. It said "solicitors will be sodomized" and I never shut the blinds again.

I loved working in the garage on something and watching people start up the driveway. I could see their lips moving as the read the sign, then turn away in disgust. Even my mother thought it was hilarous-crude, but hilarious.

My roommate's new girlfriend didn't know what it meant. I can only imagine how that coversation unfolded.

It worked though-best thing I ever did to get prevent solicitors was to hang that sign.

This last summer my wife and I were doing some gardening in the front yard. The JWs came up and gave us the Watchtower booklet and a few other publishings. We had a nice pile of old flowers and mud ,plants, ETC accumulated next to the flower bed right near the front door. I had set those publishings on the pile and forgot about them. I kind of forgot about the pile and the sprinklers hosed them for a week. When the JWs cam back a week later I know they saw their booklets composting in my pile of dead vegatation.

Back in college, my roommate and I saw them making their rounds around the apartment complex.

We changed into Motley Crue Shout at the Devil tour shirts, underwear and hung ALL over each other while they tried to talk to us.

That worked.
