Uhhh.... yeah....
Pot... Kettle.... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

how is that the pot calling the kettle black?
to set the record straight the front of the Book of Mormon reads "Another Testament of Jesus Christ."
I'm not subscribed to photobucket or anything so you'll have to click on the link(unless someone wants to copy and upload onto pb for me) but here is a picture that might decrease your confusion. my book collection
now if that comes up too small the titles are (from left to right);
-The Bible (King James Version commonly used)
-Book Of Mormon (note that it's a separate book)
also you'll find others that might strike you as odd
-The complete dead see scroll in english
-The Qur'an (I had a Pakistani friend in high school, I wanted to understand his faith better)
-Ishmael by Daniel Quinn - not exactly a Christians book
-various logic and reasoning books
-The Da Vinci Code- I think it's possible Jesus was married, why not? We're supposed to and he was our ultimate example, right?

etc.

the whole religion debate will never be won because there will never be a debate where people fully understand each faith and then discuss/debate the points. All religions have those weird things that get passed on like political talking points for reasons why not to join, and so does atheism/agnosticism. Most of them aren't true or at least aren't completely true.

my 2ó (oh yeah, i'm a mac user)

where's the double middle finger face when you need one?

Has anybody ever REALLY had god come down and talk to them?

It is my opinion that god is what you make it. Most importantly any message that god actually has will probably get distorted and/or perverted by man to fit his needs.

True. We no longer adapt to things...we force everything to adapt to us.

Closest I've ever got was meeting Charlie Daniels twice. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

I read Dinner With a Perfect Stranger a few months ago. The underlying moral is that people tend to focus on who Christ is, instead of who He is to us.

Good, quick read.

If you believe the Bible is indeed a true account of Israelite history and the life of Jesus then yes God has directly spoken to many men. If you don't believe then I will pray for you.

Rapha I appreciate that but I've spent much of my life in Catholic school and bible study. I will always have doubts simply because I dont trust man to get the story straight. Any divine word that the good lord would have would quickly be perverted into a justification to go to war or something else as negative.

Man will never get it right until he believes that he could have it wrong. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Hear, hear.

If you wish to know the bible, read it in the original. For example the word for poisoner was changed to witch in many european versions of the bible. That is quite a big switch in meaning.

Catholism has done more damage to "Christianity" than good...Don't use that as a measure of anything.
