great thanks. Are the one speakers in the dash the type that are positioned facing down towards your knees?

Yep. I'm doing a speaker upgrade this week as well. Disconnect the dash speakers and leave them to sleep. The door speakers will do the job.

Uh huh, my old mazda pick up was like that. I think I will likely go with component speakers and palce the tweets in there/ Most can be angled up as they usually have adjustability built in.

When I look on the infinity website they show a 92 montero with 6x9's in the back and a 98 has the 6.5's. The pajero is different then and is more like a 98 with 6.5's and NOT 6x9's?

Seems that we all have one's that are a little different from each other's Pajero's. Only one way to find out ...

Seems to me that when I do any sort of comparison to a north american montero, the same year Pajeros have several features that are more modern. It seems that the 98 Monteros are like the 92 Pajeros which doesn't surprise me since we are usually several years behind in technology when it comes to the extras.

Well I did it, I went and spent a ton of money on a new stereo system yesterday; I went full alpine. I wasn't going to buy anything, just look but the stuff was on sale (of course) and then he knocked off another 400 bucks (thats how much they mark this crap up) but I fell for it and bought the amp, deck, sub, box, and front component speakers. That just leaves the rear speakers but a guy is giving me his old amp for that which he used for a month and then I have a shallow mount pair of 6.5 JVC speakers already that I will mount. Should sound really nice. I haven't had this much stereo since 1995. I think I am having a pre midlife crisis .

Alpine is an excellent choice...in my car I have a $1200 (new back in 2003) Alpine deck with 4 boston Acoustic speakers run off a 4 Channel Alpine amp...the stereo sounds AWESOME in that car
