I got a nice big box of speakers from UPS today. I went with Infinity Reference because I love the sound these make with the music I listen to. 4" and 6.5" shallow mount.

Oh, I ordered from www.sonicelectronix.com because the prices were 1/3 of retail in Canada. They only ship UPS though, so you will get dinged for brokerage fees.

Found the time to put the dash speakers in today. 10 minutes to do. The Infinities just fit. Lots of depth, of course, but the tweeters are sitting flush with the covers. Anyone else changing the dash speakers, try to get (co-axial) speakers with the tweeters as flush as possible.

Sounds like your typical 4" speaker. Probably shouldn't have bothered! Tomorrow I do the doors.

I hear you Ed. I put a very good set of Kickers in the dash - while they are better than the factories by a country mile, they still aren't exactly kickin...

To summarize

1/ how did you get to the door speakers? And what size fits?

2/ Rear speakers, what tool did you use to undo the 4 'bolts/screws' i tried allen keys (standard and imperial), i tried torx, What works?
What size speaker fits in Rear?

Thanks for clarification.

Best I can do is tell you the whole door card has to come off. It's mostly clips - just a few screws. I haven't done my doors yet, so I can't be more specific. The rears are way worse. The whole interior panel has to come off. I believe this means the rear seats have to come out as well.

Again, I haven't done the rears, nor do I intend to for a while.

yes the whole door panel has t come off...very easy though, take the plastic inbehind the inside door handle off first, then there are a few screws and the rest are clips

Yeah, door panel is easy for sure. Just be thankful we have power windows - I found getting the window crank off was one of the harder parts, on Betsy I and II...

As far as the rears, one suggestion is to either make sure its nice and warm in the garage, or use a hair dryer to warm the plastic before you start hauling stuff off - I found it had to bend a fair bit, and I would imagine the cold would result in a few nasty snapping noises...
