if you buy a good filter such as a K&N, a purolator/valvoline, or a OEM, it will not let down all it's oil.
Sorry but i disagree with the other posters that a larger filter will ruin your engine. All it does, it give extra capactity with more filtering media.
How about those dual oil filter relocation kits? i dont see those blowing up engines.
