That is the answer I'd expect from a child. Nothing you can do to the intake of a Jeep will help performance... In pure fact most if not ALL intake modifications will HURT performance. Installing a high rpm filter will only increase the amount of dirt the engine will injest offroad. You either did not read my write up or you fail to understand the basic principle of reducing the temperature of the intake charge of air. So if you want to poor mouth my Jeep and work you can crawl back into your worm-hole in Central Texas and work on your "Jeep" anyway you want to...I don't care. I certainly did not post this for an expert like you <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" />

Just noticed I quoted the wrong tip the first time, the right one about the Gloss Black to increase the air flow.

I liked the part about the color of the headlight bucket increasing the flow of air.
"TIP: Remove the headlight trim ring and paint the inside around the headlight semi-gloss black to give it a dark appearance and increase the flow of air.
So where is the Dyno Data of Before and After to back up your claims of increased power? I have never heard of a Boost/Vacuum Gauge being used to measure Horsepower.
"Update: I drove it for the first time after doing the fab/install and the Jeep seems to have a bit more power and response. I have a boost/vacuum gauge which I drive by and it certainly appeared to have a bit more power based upon the gauge on a normal trip for me."
And for the record, running in dirty conditions off road, I would be more concerned about putting Clean, dry air into the engine vs possibly perceiving the increase of a little power.
Just my 2 cents.

A boost gauge/vacuum gauge will not tell you anything unless you have a boosted system... turbo or supercharger. If you do not have one of those, then your engine is only creating vacuum, period.
In no way will that gauge give you an idea of power gains without boost. A turbo will give you about 10-11 HP for every lb of boost it is running. That is the only way you can tell HP gains from that gauge, and in that case you should already know that you gained power cause you have to turn the boost up yourself.
I'm not knocking on your install or write up, but those types of mods are really only beneficial to high revving vehicles, that have a powerband beyond the Jeep motors. i.e. my honda prelude redlines at 7500 RPM's. Peak power comes at about 5000 RPM's all the way through to 7200 RPM's.
Mods like that in fact do increase power, regardless of what others might think, but they are just not as useful in our Jeep applications as they are in others. My 2ó

Sean Who said you were promised Dyno info? Clean dry air????? Do you see anyplace where I said I was running sans an air filter. Dry air, my air is dry, no problemo. Your 2 cents wasn't even worth that.

My 2ó Ok, next time go to the site and at least look at the pics...there are 8 Pix that show the Supercharger on the Jeep. Yes in fact you are able to ascertain power gains using "that gauge, you just need to understand how to read and understand the gauge. I would be the first to say that high rpm engines do indeed have more gain, however any engine will see some gains if you reduce the intake air temps...which if you had also read you would understand that was the intent. You guys sound like house shills for Big Jim...I would think a guy from Arlington would know better...maybe its only us guys from Colleyville <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Your 2 cents wasn't even worth that. How can you make any real horsepower clams if you have no Data to back it up, hence the Dyno Data. And No I donÆt see anywhere you said you would run without an air filter, but in places where it rains putting an air pick up at the front of a rig like that, with a bucket to catch the water is just going to end up with the air filter full of water. The comment about clean air had to do with the K&N I saw in the picture, and which people usually like to add to these so called cold air intakes. Not quite sure why you have to be so derogatory when people give you feedback on your design, which if you werenÆt looking for feedback you wouldnÆt have put the design out there. Sean
