all in all I enjoyed you writeups, they are interesting and imformitive. However wouldnt use a K@N filter due to the oil coating,I know what that did to my regular tb,ias and so on. I would hate to see what it could do to a $5k unit. I remember from the box it did say the holes was larger to allow more air(miniscule to our eyes),but still It does allow more fine dirt and the coating to make its way in.I know arizona has pleanty of dust. I also remember that it said that the dirtier it gets the better it works. Which leaves me to wonder why use a filter that works better when dirty, than a filter that has about the same restricion in the first place.
I was thinking maybe try one of the large cone filters from a ford truck, or the cyl. shaped ones from the chevy trailblazer. that would be interesting to see a comparison on those 3 filters. As I said good write ups just something that I wouldn't do.

Just for referance reasons I been through all sorts of conditions with the jeep in VA when I lived there dry, dusty, muddy,&snow I finally trashed my K@N when I moved to jersey because I got tired of removing the TB to clean it

out of all the jeeps in this town the d**n gremlin had to invade mine

I've done so much, with so little for so long i can practicly do anything with nothing
