I've been posting alot lately, but you guys really help. I love this site. Anyway, I recently replaced my timing chain etc. in my '85 4runner 22re, and it quieted the motor down alot. Now I'm on a preventative maintainence kick, and I noticed that the rocker arms are pretty clanky during first start up and at general warm idle. I am thinking about adjusting my valves. I noticed there was some play in the rockers when I had the motor a TDC. I was wondering, the rockers slide on the shaft probably more than they should I'm sure they're pretty worn, will adjusting valves with worn rockers do more harm than good, or should I just be satisfied that it runs good (but chattery) now and leave them alone untill I decide to buy new? thanks.
