How much boost can a 4d55 handle? The turbos are all finished and it runs great. I can't drive it yet because Im putting different axels under it right now. No steering or breaks. All I can do is rev it up on the jackstands, without any load on the engine. It's hitting 11-12 pounds of boost at 3500 rpm, no load.

I believe our JDM 4D56s boost at 12psi constantly when running down the highway. Phil and Torquemonster have boost gauges installed and should be able to confirm this.

Thanks. Im worried about hiting 18-20 under normal operating load. I guess I should just get a waste gate. I wont know till I drive it down the road.

I'd like to see a pic of how you setup twin turbos on the engine. What did you use for an intercooler?

yes 12psi is the norm for our 4D56's. I used to have a boost controller on mine and I was at 17-18 psi for a while, no problems with it...just fuel consumption. I think 20psi is the line I would draw for being safe. at 18psi with my tiny little turbo it hauled ass....I couldn't shift gears quick enough. when I park my car for the winter I am going to take the boost controller off it and put it back on my pajero.

I used a starion intercooler. I removed the a/c condensor and it fit really well in front of the radiator. I used all the starion hoses for the intercooler also. The is build thread on pirate 4x4 with all my pictures. I will try to put some up here, just have to find them.
