If you really want to go through the trouble and work wouldn't a SAS be a better option?

An SAS is not a really a better option for my needs. I would like to build a new overlanding/expedition vehicle with a new RTT. While it would be put through mild to moderate offoading, I am thinking a Gen III with an LSD will be more than adequate. I have the 1985 Mitsubishi Pickup for the serious stuff. I am just looking to replace/upgrade to a newer Montero and a newer roof top tent for the family. Here is a pic of the current setup. It's a 1991 Montero LS with a first gen Mombassa tent. The tent sleeps 4-5 very comfortably.
