Need a Spot
hey, i have owned my jeep for little over 2 years now and it has come to the point where i need new shocks; front, rear and a steering stabilizer. I have a 4.5" lift and other modifications, and do some offroading regularly. I have done some research and i really like the new rancho's that has jus been introduced not long ago, the RSX9000 with the remote adjustment. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on whether these are good replacements or if i should try something else. I am not to shy on spending and willing to pay a decent amount for good shocks. thank you

Body Damage is Cool
I run rancho 5000's on my Jeep, and my buddy runs rancho 9000's. IMO they are good shocks. I have heard and experienced nothing but good things about them. The in cab control would be great to have too.

I've been running rs-9000s on two different Wranglers, and find these manually (knob) adjustable shocks useful in adjusting the vehicle ride for offroad and on highway; it really does make a difference. Much better to have an adjustable shock than the rancho 5000s (MHO). Rancho is a good shock, blistein may be a step up. The in-cab, remote adjusting type shock is just a bit too pretentious for good company out on the trail. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the recommendations. I am more than likely going with the new RSX9000 but just one problem. I can't find anywhere that sells them in accordance with my lift. Every web site i find doesn't say anything about lift jeeps/ trucks. I was wondering if you know of a worldwide store that carries these or a web site that gives information on shocks with the allowance of a lift already on it. Also how i would go about measuring what size shocks i need? thanks again

Simple solutioon. Call the manufacturer, tell them your vehicle and the amount of suspension lift you have on it, and they will give you the partnumbers for the proper shock for your application.

Then call the distributor of your choice and order them by stock number.

I think 4WD Hardware has them listed for your lift; I don't have the catalogue here, but they had lists for many shock part numbers for many lift sizes, incld. the Rancho 9000's.

Definitely call the manufacturer because sometimes a vehicle needs different size shocks for front and rear. When I put a lift on my CJ I ordered my 5000's for a 2 inch lift...Well for my CJ 5 I need a 3 inch lift shock in the rear for a 2 inch lift. Quadratec was very kind and quick about sending me the correct ones. Got the right ones in less than a week later!
