I have a 03 Rubicon and it is time for new tires my problem is I drive 99% to work and around town and not off road <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> So I need to stick to near stock. My stockers were great when I got the Jeep but for the last 25K miles have been driving me nuts do to the fact that they all went out of round even when I rotated them front to back all the time. I want the same type of tires but minus all the fricken noise. What do you all think of these two tires I can get them both in a size that is very near 32. I just need to know if they are going to do the same thing.

Any help on this would be great!!

If I was using my tires for 99% town and hiway driving I sure wouldn't get such an aggressive tread design.
Both of those tires are bragging on mud and trail.. I think I would use more of a street tread both for sound and milage..
You will like your ride a lot more for that 99% with a street or MILD all terrain tread.

I agree with BJ. Don't know about the Coopers, but the MTZ's are pretty loud on the road, and have a very aggressive tread...prob would not last too long with that much street driving.

While all of you are right and I agree getting a more off road tire is stupid when I drive so much on the road. I still want to be able to go off road when I want and not get stuck in snow and still have it have the rubicon look.

Ok then if you have your mind made up...why ask???
The brands you mention are what I would refer to as "off brands".. Why not look at a goodyear "wrangler" all terrain tire? It'll do what you need with a LOT LESS noise.

Well I wish that was the case the Goodyear MTR's that come stock on my Rubicon make me sound like Big Foot coming down the road can't even hear my stereo when the top is off.

They are good for off road not the best for sure.

These two tires are allot like the MTR's really what I want its something that will for sure stay in round.

I might just get some BFG's and be done.

Are we talking about the same MT/R? Mine are very quiet, even after all these miles and some minor chunking. Totally worth the money, imo.

i was running 32 in bfg all terrains for a while they were really quiet on the road and do as well any other all terrain . i was getting pretty good mileage out of them as well. put about 20k on them still had plenty of tread left. the only problem i had was that for what ever reason one was wearing on one side, rotated it all around couldnt get it to quit doing it

Both those tires are loud on the road and the ride sucks. my suggestion is the wrangler with silent armor. they are rated very high by consumer reports, very quiet, good off road, smooth ride, and to top it off very resistant to punctures and cuts, heck they have kevlar in them thats why they are so good as far as ride, noise and dmg resistance. and they are a high milage rated tire. the downside is the expence, but you do get what you pay for.

cooper does make a semi aggressive tire called the discoverer atr. i never heard any complants from our customers on them and when they do wear out often the customer buys another set.

Bj cooper may be an off brand but that is one off brand i would buy, their tires always seem to last and handel well. personally i never had a set.,But when these wrangler gsa's wear out i am definatly debating between the atr cooper and the wrangler with silent armor

out of all the jeeps in this town the d**n gremlin had to invade mine

I've done so much, with so little for so long i can practicly do anything with nothing

I used BFG Mud Terrains on my truck and have used them on my Jeep since 1994. Great off-raod, and I don't think they're noisy on pavement.
