Getting the Wheeling Fever
Been a while yaÆll. My Monty has been running fine until last night. The A/T light came on a few weeks ago. I just need to know where the SW is located. I will replace that.

But I was doing the old ôstart it up and let it run a whileö thing. I use it for hunting and havenÆt been in a while. It ran for about an hour with the running lights on. I was checking out the heater and the lights because I am bringing it to Odessa Texas on a big hunting trip. I turned it off, tried to re-start it and the battery was completely dead. The instrument lights wouldnÆt even come on. I recently replaced the battery and the alternator. This is the first time I have had any problems with this since the replacement. Would letting it idle for a long period cause this? Let me know what you think.

Thanks
Pat

Hey,

It might still be a bad alt. Just because it was replaced, doesn't mean its not defective. Have it tested. Here is the link for the article in the tech archives for the inhibitor switch:

Hope this helps and good luck with the fix

I second the suspicious alternator. I had mine replaced with a Bosch unit when the voltage regulator fried and allowed my battery to over-charge. The first replacement unit failed within 1/2 hour of installation (happily, the mechanic was driving it, not me). The second unit failed ~6 months later... fortunately still under warranty. It is no longer under warranty now...

There is a little sensor at the top of the AT that I had to replace in order to get the temp light to go off. (assuming that the transmission is not actually overheating of course) It was a five minute job. If I remember correctly it is on the passenger side top. Takes a small wrench and just screws out.

Someone else can post up if my memory is wrong.

anyone know the part number and cost for the AT sensor? Mine broke a month ago when I went through a mud hole so the light just stays on.

The number is MD60933. I had to go through the dealer to get it. Just be warned. Some fluid will come out when you change it. I had the same problem with the light staying on even when cold out (32degree F even).
