I second the suspicious alternator. I had mine replaced with a Bosch unit when the voltage regulator fried and allowed my battery to over-charge. The first replacement unit failed within 1/2 hour of installation (happily, the mechanic was driving it, not me). The second unit failed ~6 months later... fortunately still under warranty.
