So I had my motor replaced 1k ago, before that my old motor had 200k and leaked oil like crazy it also didnt help that the crank was moving back and forth in the engine grinding the block down. Now onto the problem I had the motor replaced and rebuild the head and carb, it runs great but still leaks oil I took it back to the shop and the guy said he doesnt know why it whould leak he only put 5qts of oil . As far as I know my trooper doesnt take 5 qts more like 3.5 or 4. I have already check the PCV valve so thats not plugged, could overfilling the pan cause seals or gaskets to blow? another question is can I advance the time for better topend power.

First thing you should do is check the oil to make sure that you aren't grossly overfilled. Second thing is to tell us where the oil is leaking from.
when looking for a container to hold drained brake fluid, find a container that is different from the beverage you are currently consuming.

Its not overfilled anymore and its hard to tell it cpmes from all over the oil pan and arounf the tanny bellhousing. Im assuming oilpan gasket and rear main.

I'd be pretty irritated if I had my engine replaced and was leaking at the rear main seal.
Oil pan gasket I suck at. I replaced my seal with a new gasket and it leaked as much as it ever did. I'm going to use some RTV next time. You may want to start there to eliminate it from the leak search.

Its always best to use just a little RTV when you put your oil pan on , right where the 2 ends are , it even mentions that in the instruction sheet that comes with the brand new pans like what i put on when I was putting my engine back together.I have had no leaks on my engine from there at all.the only leaking spots I had were when I had put the rear main seal on backwards , so had to fix that , and the other spot was with my remote oil adapter , I had to use a bunch of RTV around all the fitting connections , and since then no more oil leakage at all.
I have since put 12,000 KM on my truck since i built it up , and no problems , other than my loss of power one that I still can't figure out , but am sure its electrical.
If you do redo your oil pan , do use a little RTV just around the 2 ends , and not a ton of it , just like a small 1/4" bead and you shouldn't have to worry about oil leaks from there unless you crank the gasket too tight and squish it.

So from what i can tell its leaking from the from of the oil pan around the crank area. I used some tracer engine dye to double check and that the problem and when I drive its moving back toward the tranny thowing me off a lil. Do they make a felt gasket for the upper oil pan on an 86 trooper 2.3L?

NO ON THE GASKET , IT IS DESIGNED TO NOT NEED A GASKET,IF IT IS PUT TOGETHER CORRECTLY IT WONT LEAK, IF THE LEAK IS COMING FROM THE FRONT, IT COULD BE THE FRONT CRANK SEAL RETAINER GASKET TORN AND INSTALLED INCORRECTLY, IT COULD ALLSO BE THE OIL PUMP SEAL LEAKING OR THE FRT CRANK SEAL, , ONE OTHER PLACE THAT COULD CAUSE A BAD LEAK , IS THE CORE PLUG THAT IS IN THE END OF THE BLOCK ,IT IS ABOTU 1/2 IN IN DIA, IF IT WAS THE WRONG ONE LIKE AN AUTOPARTS STORE PLUG, IT WILL LEAK LIKE CRAZY, .. Hmm ok well when I get a key remade for my bike and Im ble to put her back as my daily I'll go ahead and re-goop the oil pan, Now I have seen gaskets on various placs online but they dont go around the whole pan just corners or grooves. uhhh Im really not looking forward to raising the engine just to remove a pan, stupid front axle. <<this should make things easier NEW CASTLE AWAITS ME BABY
