Just an FYI, those screws are not brass, they are just a soft steel.

If I'm not mistaken, the shop manual calls for these to be
replaced after removing.
Mostly likely, the reason for making them out of such soft steel
is to help ensure they get replaced.

If careful, they can be reused.
As stated before, the wrong screwdriver or over tightening
them is what renders them useless.
