they have to be able to be balanced over here or they wouldn't pass DOT. Don't tell me you have to have your tires balanced in Taxes to pass inspection? You know, NY sucks for many rea$on$, but it's saving grave is the DMV. No lift laws, minimal inspection requirements, and no requirement to cover your tires, let alone balance them. I dunno, does that make up for the bad in NY?

Well I ordered a set of 4 re-treaded tires last week, and they arrived today. 30x9.50x15. The carcasses they used were bfgoodrich all terrains with the triple sidewall protection. (although it varies on what brand they use.) the tires look pretty good, and it should be interesting to try them out. They are not the hardcore mud tire I was after, but they didn't offer it in that size. https://treadwright.com/Tires-30x9_50R15_MUD-P10.aspx$280 shipped to my door for 4 tires. I will be getting them mounted up later today, but I am not going to run them until I finish the front end stuff (new ball joints, tie rods, and alignment.) I will update this at a later time on how I like or dis-like them. If anyone else wants to add any experiences with them, feel free! I would be interested to hear about them. I was looking at the prices on the site you linked to. The prices are not very cheap. For what they are charging then I might as well buy new ones.

the prices are actually pretty cheap for mud tires, the cheapest mud tire I could find shipped was $480 thats not mounted or balanced etc. $55 per tire is pretty cheap. like I said $280 to my door. the bigger you go, the more you pay, and also make sure you are looking at the regular tires, the GD or Green Diamond are about $15 more per tire. Maybe thats where you saw the higher prices. Otherwise for the money, good luck, unless you go used.

I was bored while waiting for the other 2 tires , 2 came at 9:30am and the other 2 showed up at 5pm, thanks fedex! so I remembered my dad showing me how to mount up tires without a machine, so I gave it a shot, and sure as .... it took about 3 minutes per tire, so I saved some cash there, and I had 4 valve stems from a wheel lock kit I bought (not sure why they would throw in valves stems!) and I have a compressor, so All I needed done was balancing. Could you explain the your dad's tire mounting process please. May want to order some of these. I was reading about them in a 4x4 mag and they rated them good in their tests. They thought that they were an excellent bargain. Everet

well its actually very easy. you set the tire on the rim (be sure you have the side you want to face out the right way or you get to do this all over again!) tilt the tire so that the bead can get its start on the rim. use your knee and hold that part down. and just start working your way around.
you'll get to a point where its just impossible to get any more on the rim by hand. Then you just need a big flat tip screwdriver, or a small pry bar. Slowly keep prying the bead over the rim (if you try and pry too much onto the rim at one time you could damage the bead, so take it slow. eventually the entire bead will be on the rim, then you need to do it again for the other bead (2 beads per tires).
Then it works best if you can set the tire/rim on something so its off the ground (lying flat, valve stem up) hook up your air and you may have to try and nudge the tire up a little near the valve stem to get it to start filling. once it starts filling , it will SNAP into place, then just put the pressure to your desire, and head off to the balancing shop.
Keep in mind this was done on a steel rim, can be done on aluminum too, but the risk of scratching it is greater. SO if they are brand new rims, you may want to have them done at a shop! Otherwise, give it a shot, nothing to lose, if you can't get it, just take em to the shop!

cool, I have been by eugene a few times, bend a couple times, of course the coast. I see sportages, but they are always stock. I always try to park near them at a grocery store, lol.
I have had a few guys with lifted trucks do a double take, they really will once the 4" lift is done! Its too bad the lockers or limited slip options are not cheaper, its probably cheaper to swap axles.
but I guess its like anything, if your wallet is bottomless, anything is possible (mine has a shallow bottom!).

AS far as the RE-tread issue....I would just rather buy the new tire!
Don't trust Re-Tread ------and the cost is almost the same

if it was so close to being the same price I would have bought new tires. It was near half price of anything I found.
