Shoe River Trail is near Lovingston, VA. It actually is on the eastern side of Crabtree Falls, the top of which is a one mile hike from the top of Shoe River Trail.

Driving to Shoe River (going up to Crabtree Falls)
? Take Rt 64 West to 29 south (around Charolottesville)
? Take 29 South to 56 West (Tye Brook Extension), which is 5 miles south of Lovingston
? At the junction with Rt 151, turn south on Rt 151 for a short distance
? Turn right onto Lowesville Road
? After a bridge turn right onto Rt 666, Woodson Road
? Woodson Road turns into Jacks Hill Road (still called 666)
? Turn left onto 827, Perkins Hill Road
? Keep on Perkins Hill Road (827) as it crosses a bridge (seems to turn to right). This road will eventually turn into a gravel road, and then into Shoe River Trail, which is a state owned. The land to ether side is private. The trail will end at Crabtree Falls.
