Yes, changing the gears only involves the rear differential and the front IFS section(not the cv joints). You can save a lot of costs in labor by removing the rear 3rd member and front IFS section and take them into a shop to do teh work(known as Bench Labor). Figure roughly about 1.5hrs/diff to set up new gears, so about $300(labor at $75/hr), plus about another $5-600(gears, bearings, etc.), wheras if you drive it into a shop it could cost you $1k in labor alone. Or you can usually find oem 4.88 diffs(when available ) for about $2-300 ea.

You should get in touch w/Billydkid, and see when he is planning on regearing. If you live close to each other, his 4.87's would be perfect for your 31's and he could use your 4.10 diffs to regear to 5.29's to run bigger tires.
