well I was saying that he was running 31's and if another guy was running 44's and dug a rut, good luck following the same path.! thats was back when nobody had a tube frame crawler and most guys were running 31"s -33"s so it was still fair game for most entry level guys.

then it got to the "bigger is better" game and the average tire size went to 38"s my dad got out of the 4wheeling game shortly after (those tires are not cheap!)

he did start building a tube frame on a early bronco frame, and he had custom rims made to fit implement tires (tractor tires) that were 40" and had the V pattern tread, he never finished the project as he was doing it in his time off, AND every 3 months his buddy would tell him that now he needs to change this or that because everyone else is doing it that way instead so he got tired of that game too. (his buddy was actually 4 wheeling, and my dad was just building)
