Need a Spot

OK two things the first is when I take off and I release the clutch the truck tends to hesitate like I have the clutch in some then it takes off. seconds is sometimes when I shift I will give it gas(quick shifts) and it will rev high then back down. could it be the oil? from what my brother told me the tranny was rebuilt not too long ago. or is it the clutch?

sounds to me like the clutch is slipping... either from wear or possibly from oil saturation(?). believe transmissions are typically 'go' or 'no go' with bad metallic noises when they go bad.

Your 2.3 has a cable-operated clutch so check free play and adjust as needed. If it's too tight it'll slip.
The free play adjustment is made at the firewall, you'll see the nuts which have to be loosened then moved to get more slack in the cable.
