Browne It is testosterone driven for sure.. If anything it dulls the horns. They have to beat up tres and fence posts because the other deer won't stand still for them to beat up on.. When one does the fight may be to the death..

you mentioned fight to the death, a guy that was at a sportsman show back home had 2 massive bucks that was full bodied mounts. their antlers was locked together and he had many many pictures of them as he found them. the exact reason for their death is unknown,they didn't appear to have starved,or was decomposed for that matter. maybe from over exertion or got over heated and the temp dropped too much. who knows , but needless to say those things are dangerous(defenseless my <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" />) .
