It is glued on. I removed mine, but you then are left with some residue.

If I were you, I would think twice about removing the chrome on the drip rails, at least for those of us in the wet corner of the continent. I had mine off for a while, and ended up with a lot of water in the cargo compartment when I opened the rear doors.
