No, I did not know of this place. Will they work on a 4x4, by the looks of there website they do mostly cars.
I called him, and he seemed like a nice guy. I told him my issue, and he said to call him back with exacly what the mitsu dealership says they want to do, and he will see what he can do.

MadGary,
He has owned several Montero's (Gen I & Gen II). He works on all the local Mitsu's & Montero's in the Newport/Costa Mesa area...He expanded to include Subaru's, because of all his past experience with rally racing with that brand...Also, expanded to include Hyundai, just because...
'90 Gen 1 Montero LWB (Original owner, daily driven x 32 yrs and counting) 400k+ miles & still going strong !!!

haha, I just called the Mitsu Dealership, and they are now telling me that it is not the hubs. Thank God I didnt have them start working on the car. I asked them to see if they can just get it out of 4wd so I can safely drive it in 2wd.

MadGary,
A new set of Superwinch hubs will run you $100 or so and they're real easy to install. Two hours max if you're real careful and take your time. Instructions in the box.
If you want to take a road-trip to San Diego I'll help you install them. Or, we can install my original auto hubs if you want.

You can drive it with the hubs locked in, just have the transfer in 2wd and after you have backed up check that they are either locked or unlocked. Up here in cold country we occasionally have problems with them.like I posted before, unscrew the cover on them and spray a light lubricant in there. They might free right up.

Hey Brendan, if the IT path doesn't work out, just buy a big truck, like MAC uses, and drive around fixin's stuff. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> You KNOW I'm good for a stop or two a year.
