I ran into this when I yanked my engine for rebuild.
It was clearly goin gto be such a pain to get the whole harness out that I decided to just lave the intake in the engine bay. I unbolted the upper plenum so the two parts were at least loosse/floppy, and folded 'em back against the fender and bungeed into place there. Held fine and out of the way whiel everything else came out.
