Ok, dumb question. I know the answer to this, I just don't want to admit it, because I've already spent the money, so I'm asking the question anyway. I bought an ebay tranny in working decent shape. A 3-speed auto. Seller sent me pictures of before it was wrapped and before it was shipped. Good shape. Some idiot at fedex must have dropped it off the roof because the belhousing is BROKEN. Like, a half inch widecrack almost the entire way around the bellhousing. Here's the question I already know the answer to but don't want to admit it's junk: Can I weld it back together? Saying I bolted it back to it's corresponding block so that it's lined up and the cracked are all back to where they're supposed to be. Can it be done? Mig or tig aluminum is not a problem, I have half a dozen spool guns and two tig machines. I have the equipment. But I've never done CAST aluminum. So what do ya'll think? Weld it up? Or scrap the case and keep the innards, and hope I can find a case?
