True, true. But am I the only one that find the removal of the starter to be not a biggy? Last time I changed mine I did it in about 45 minutes, really!!! I used a couple of extensions with a wobbly at the end for the top bolt. I find a lot easier to work on it from the bottom and if you want more free space then drop the front shaft.
Don't give up <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> A couple of <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> will keep you happy <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />and will keep our knuckles numbed <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

You're not the only one.. I'll say it again and again that changing the starter isn't that bad! it oculd be worse guys. I thought the 2.6 was easier than the 3.0 untill I did the 3.0 for the first time at a rest stop at 10 am in the morning.

Does it help to get the socket on it first an then get the rachet/extension on the socket? I never remember it being that hard.

Good luck

DONE!!!

<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

Borrowing an extra extension did the trick, as did going from the bottom. Thanks, all, for your help--in the end, it wasn't as bad as I thought.

I find stubborn anger to be one of the best penetrating solvents. Congrats. Time for the victory dance and two fingers of Gentleman Jack...

Gotcha beat...my dance was a thing of sublime beauty, and it was followed by a half-barrel of Tennessee's finest.

Now....on to the brakes!
