Need a Spot
I just bought a used 2001 Kia sportage for the wife. Everytime you lock the door either with the key or the door button and close the door, when you need to get back in the alarm "horn" goes off. There is a sticker on the tthe window that says "iLock" Never heard of the car alarm and can not find anything about it on the web. Could it be a factory alarm? Can any of you help?

I do not trust the stealership to fix the problem, they would only creat more problems.

It's only been a few days but we love the car.
I just signed up, glad to be a part of the group.

I have a 2001 too ( I live in sugarcreek ohio about 12 miles from Dover, New Philadelphia small world) ok back to your ? when you lock the kia with the key you should hear the alarm set you need to use the key to disarm it also. the buttons do not turn off the alarm. try this clsoe the driver side door lock with your key it should chirp then unlock it it should chirp again, whats good about this alarm is you can have the windows down the alarm set and it someone even lifts the button the horn goes off, do you have your owners manual ? John

Wow, what a small world it is. Well thanks for helping me out. So, i tried what you said....i opend the door, got out, shut the door, locked the door with the key, heard a chirp (alarm must be set).....then tried to get back in by using the key to unlock the door...horn strats blaring <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> tried it many times, it does not seem to want to chirp when i unlock the dooe, it just sets the alarm off.

1. Is this "Ilock" alarm a factory installed alram? is so i might let the stealer look at it, but not if it is an aftermarket.
2. I have down loaded the owners manual from Kis's web sight, but i did not see any instructions about an alarm, do you have a page number that i can look at?
3. I also could not find in the owners manual a fuse location for the alarm, do you know if i could disable it that way, i do not care at all about having an alarm.
4. My last resort if it is an aftermarket is to cut ou the entire alarm box, which i can do, but probable not as easy if it is a factory alarm.

Thanks for you halp
Dan

You may have a bad switch in the door lock. You have one switch wich sets the alarm when you lock the door with the key and second switch that dissarms the alarm when you unlock the door.

If you lock the door with the drivers side lock button the alarm will not set.
